Whatโs better than being a hero? Being a super-hero. In todayโs episode, Iโm cracking open the pages of classic D&D and taking a look at the Potion of Heroism and Super-Heroismโthe go-to power boost for fighters who want to push beyond their limits.
The Potion of Heroism grants a temporary surge of life energy, boosting the drinkerโs effective levelโhandy when a 3rd-level fighter suddenly gets to swing like a hardened veteran. The Potion of Super-Heroism? Thatโs the next step up, juicing up warriors even further, allowing them to hit harder, take more damage, and feel truly unstoppableโfor a short time, anyway.
Both potions work like a cheat code for low-level fighters, letting them punch above their weight class in battle. But hereโs the kickerโthese effects donโt last forever, so chugging one at the wrong time might mean wasting precious power when you need it most.
When should you uncork one of these bad boys? Are they worth the gold and risk? And more importantly, should your DM be terrified of a potion-fueled murder machine? Iโm breaking it all down in todayโs episode. Strap in, grab your dice, and letโs talk hero juice!
Good subject for an episode.
DMG 1e p125 does state that, unless otherwise specified, potions last 4+1d4 turns.
